RE-OPENING INFO

The road leading up to the Chantry Flat area (which leads to Adams Pack Station, the Chantry Flat parking lot,  trailheads for Sturtevant Trail, Winter Creek Trail and First Water Trail) is now ready to re-open to the public as of Wednesday October 2, 2024!! We are delighted to know we will see all of your beautiful faces back in the canyon. Please stop in at the pack station to pick up a parking pass and to have a bite to eat and drink. We will be here for you.  We thank you all for your amazing support while we have been closed. It literally took a village to get us through 4 years of this closure.  

Sturtevant Trail from Mt. Wilson Observatory to Sturtevant Camp - Closed (Trail maintenance is still required on this portion of Sturtevant Trail. Please do not attempt to head to Mt. Wilson from Chantry or to Chantry from Mt. Wilson as it will not be fun, likely very dangerous and it is still officially closed. Not worth trying if you're trying to have a good day. )

Zion Trail - Closed (This trail is severely blown out and requires trail reconstruction which will be in the works in the future. It is officially closed to the public. Don't be that person that has to get helicoptered out.)

First Water Trail to Hermit Falls - Closed (This trail is blown out and is not scheduled to be repaired by Forest Service. It does not show up on the trail system anymore. Please do not attempt to make your way there. It would be extremely dangerous to get to and would be incredibly difficult to get help to anyone in an emergency situation. If someone needs to be rescued from there, they will be putting their rescuers in much danger as well. Please don't do it.)

Gabrielino Trail at the split of Sturtevant Trail  to Newcomb's Pass - Closed  (This section of the trail is extremely blown out and still requires trail reconstruction. It is officially closed to the public. This is another area that would just ruin your day if you attempted it.)
